I had my first “Meet & Greet” for the GitHub Campus Experts Program today. And I really have to say, it was wonderful! 💛
At the start of the event, it was just “Hey!”s and “Hello!”s through the chat box. But as the event took off in this amazing platform called IceBreakers, we were soon able to see and speak with a few new Campus Experts. I spoke and got to know 4 new Campus Experts. They were amazing people from across the globe, doing plenty of inspiring and amazing work to build and help the community. 🙌
The event (and the program) is handled by the amazing Juan from GitHub. He gave us a brief walkthrough through our training and journey to become a Campus Expert, and I should say it sounded exciting! (He introduced us to his cute pet too)
This interaction between the Campus Experts gave us a headstart to the program. (Ahm! We were hinted about the swag we will get too) 🤞
I’m really looking forward to working and interacting more with GitHub and the Campus Experts soon, to help build our communities! ⚡️
If you guys have suggestions for the stuff that I should try to mention in the daily-blog template, let me know through the comments below, or just send me a message here.
]]>This time I shall try to finish it completely (not throwing shade at all at myself)
To be honest, the straight answer is that I don’t want to waste my time, being lazy. I just got done with an amazing 2-month internship, and I still have almost a month to go until university opens again. And I want to make sure that I spend my time well in these days (and after also).
It’s basically a tool that allows you to build native cross-platform apps by using just one codebase (and one programming language - Dart.
The whole idea behind flutter that makes it easy to develop apps is that it uses “UI as Code” - you keep building onto a Widget Tree, for any component you will be placing into the application. That means that everything that is there in a Flutter Application is a Widget.
]]>I started my day by finishing the work for the Jenkins issue. Managed to create a PR for it.
I also found a small issue with the documentation of one of the arcgis
api of ESRI. So I created an issue, and created a PR for it.
I did a small code review for one of the sessions for the Coding Bootcamp.
Later, I found another pretty nice issue in one of the repos of Microsoft; to add Jupyter Notebook support to one of their projects. So I created a PR for the same.
After I came back home, I worked a bit on Deep Learning. I’m almost done with the course, I’ll try to get done with by tomorrow.
After that, I went out with my friends and vibed, and ended up coming back home by 10:40 PM.
That’s it for Day 45! (wassa good day!) 🚀
]]>I started my day by working on that issue for Jenkins. I’m almost done. I’ll try to create the PR for it by tomorrow.
I found another issue with their docs. So I created an issue, created a PR, and got it merged as well.
I started working on another small project I thought to do: As I’m a person who takes notes, to-dos, etc. often, and I always use my terminal, I thought to combine both of them, and try creating a CLI tool with python, which does exactly that. I hope I don’t ditch this project :)
After coming back home, I spent some time studying Data Mining and Operating Systems.
After that, I spent some time with Deep Learning again. Learnt more about Dropout and Batch Normalization Layers.
That’s it for Day 44! 🚀
]]>It was a really tiring day at uni. Ended up dozing off, after I came back home.
I got up, and started studying for my tests that is coming this week. I went through a bit of Theory of Computation and Operating Systems.
After that, I started working through an issue I found in JenkinsCI’s repository.
I found another issue in “NetworkX” repo (A math based library), to make their docs a bit better for the explanation of one of their classes. So I’ll try to start working on it soon as well.
Later, I spent some time learning Deep Learning. Created few dense neural networks, to solve a few problems on Kaggle. (It’s reaaally interesting. Crazy how much math could do)
I also started working on this new project, which will try to make the use of automatons easier, with python. Maybe like a python library that could create automatons, check inputs, etc.
That’s pretty much it for Day 43! 🚀
]]>I spent some time doing a course on Deep Learning (in Kaggle), to get familiar with the concept for using it in my upcoming project.
I also started working on this issue I found on GitHub today, for Jenkins, which is a CI/CD platform. I’ll try to create the pull request for it by tomorrow, or the day after.
I also found an issue for ESRI, which I think is pretty easy to work on. So I might try to work on that as well.
There was a live session by Appwrite today, for the upcoming Hacktober. The session was called “Intro to Open Source”, and it had Juan Pa from GitHub, Swift from MLH, Jen from Microsoft, and Aditya from Appwrite/MLH. It was great to listen in to the amazing conversation on everything open source to even building amazing communities through them.
]]>As you might know, Friday is my chill day. So, I didn’t do much today.
I did create a Pull Request for Google. But I ended up realising that that particular prject was no longer being maintained. So I felt sad 😩
Today was the day 2 for CodeLand. I attended the talks for today as well. TBH, CodeLand is one of the best conference/event that I have attended in quite some time. Loved it! 💖
That is pretty much it for my chill day, Day 41! 🚀
]]>I spent some time around Open Source today!
I looked out for issues to solve on GitHub. I came across a few issues, which are quite easy to solve. Ended up creating 3 pull requests for Microsoft, Facebook, and GitHub.
The PR for Microsoft and Facebook got merged!
Also, CodeLand started today! It was fun attending it. Amazing talks from some amazing people. I mainly loved this talk on “Imposter Syndrome” in Developers, as it was totally relatable, and something I face very often.
That was pretty much it for Day 40! 🚀
]]>I had quite some work at university, which made me a bit occupied, after getting back home as well.
I did spend some time on doing a code review on GitHub, for one of the sessions for the Coding Bootcamp. That did take some time, as there were alot of content to go through.
After that, I spent some time going through the docs of TensorFlow, for my project. I’ll be looking into how Deep Learning could be implemented, which is often used with Computer Vision.
That was pretty it for Day 39! 🚀
]]>So my university had its first event after so so long today; icebreakers. TBH, it was fun. I ended up reaching home by around 10 PM ☠
So autommatically, I wasn’t able to spend so much time coding today.
I did spend some time reading more about “Game AI and Deep Reinforcement Learning”. The idea behind it is pretty cool: you create a model for the machine to learn how to play a game. It basically works on “reward system” basis, where a good decision made is “reinforced” by “rewarding” the model.
That was pretty much it for Day 38! 🚀
